Snowman Soup by Charmaine Ikach

Each year at this time, I try to come up with some type of holiday treat I can mass produce for my girls to take to school for their classmates. Each year I try to keep it cute but very simple! I never seem to have the time I expected to have to create the treats! As I went shopping to look for candy that looked festive, I couldn't find anything that I liked or if I liked it, it wasn't safe for Savannah's allergies. We were on our way to the cashier when I saw it and decided on the treat. . .a box of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate packets! I picked up some mini marshmallows and mini candy canes, and I was all set to make some SNOWMAN SOUP!

The most time consuming part of assembling the treats was the coloring, and that didn't take all that long! I put both the image and sentiment on one block, so I only had to stamp each piece once. I used the Snowman Cuppie from the Home Sweet Home set, and the sentiment is from the old Tag Treats set.

First I filled resealable treat bags with a packet of hot chocolate, a handful of mini marshallows and two mini candy canes.

Next I stamped, punched and colored all of the images, cut the belly bands and added foam dimensional adhesive to the backs of the scallop circles and Scor-Tape to the end of the belly bands.

Finally, I wrapped the belly bands around the packets and attached the snowman to the front! Easy peasy! The kids just loved them. . .and that's the important thing, right? SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Home Sweet Home, Tag Treats (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- Pure Poppy, True Black (PTI), Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions); Accessories- treat bags, Jumbo and Mega circle and scallop circle punches (Marvy Uchida), Copic markers

Life Is Good

As a mom with children of (or nearing) preschool age, I'm always looking for new ways to package little treats to send with them to school. My kids LOVE Swedish Fish, so I thought I'd create a summery treat incorporating fish. The Beach Bum set was perfect for this project. I used the Matchbox Bigz die from Stampin' Up along with paper from the Beach Bum Key Ingredients to create my little treat. I stamped the palm tree on colored cardstock and cut it out, layering the top twice and adding some Parisian Mist glitter. I also added some Nut Brown Flower Soft to ground the palm tree and add more of a "beach" feel.

I could barely finish the project and take a picture before my daughter took the matchbox for her very own! :) Hopefully you've been inspired to create a treat that's different than your norm and makes your kids or grandkids eager to get their hands on it! SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Beach Bum (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Onyx Black (Versafine); Paper- Beach Bum Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions), acetate; Accessories- Parisian Mist Glitter (Taylored Expressions), Nut Brown Flower Soft, 1 3/4" circle punch, Matchbox Bigz die (SU);

Sweet Holiday Wishes

As I was browsing through a Martha Stewart Christmas magazine, I came across directions for making your own patterned wax paper. Martha used it for wrapping homemade breads as quick and simple Christmas gifts. I decided I would use that same idea, but in a slightly different way. Why not make my own box or bag out of the patterned wax paper? So, here's how to do it:

Step 1
Layout some paper towel and lay a piece of wax paper on top of it.
Step 2

Punch out your images from cardstock in your desired color. (For this, I used the Martha Stewart Holly leaf punch with green cardstock from the Halloween Key Ingredients, and a small hole punch with red cardstock from the Christmas Key Ingredients). Arrange punched pieces on wax paper.

Step 3

Lay a second piece of wax paper on top.

Step 4

Cover that with another paper towel and run an iron across the paper towel to "seal" your images in the wax paper.

Step 5

Now you can use this wax paper however you like. . .as a wrap for homemade bread or an insert for a candy box. I decided to trace and cut a box pattern on my patterned wax paper.

Step 6

Fill your bag with some sweets. . .I used peppermints. . .and finish embellishing your bag and you've got an adorable gift ready to give!
SUPPLIES USED: Stamps- Season's Sweetings (Taylored Expressions); Ink- Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko); Paper- green from Halloween Key Ingredients, red from Christmas Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions), wax paper, paper towels; Accessories- Copic markers, Super Jumbo circle punch, Mega scallop circle punch (Marvy Uchida), ribbon from Christmas Key Ingredients (Taylored Expressions), scallop border punch (SU), Holly punch (Martha Stewart), hole punch.

Enter to Win SASI Sweet Treats!

TE/SASI is buzzing with excitement as we prepare to release THREE NEW STAMP SETS and a new Key Ingredients Kit next Friday! Today I have a couple of fun announcements plus a card to share with you.

The first announcement is a new feature here on the SASI blog beginning on Halloween and continuing every Friday after that. It's called Our Friday Friend. Each week Taylor will scour the Taylored Expressions Company Gallery at SCS for recent uploads (within the past 10 days) in search of a SASI Stamper to be featured on this blog.

To be considered all you have to do is:
  • Create something (card, 3D item, scrapbook page, anything) using one or more images from any SASI stamp set. Your creation should showcase SASI, but does not have to be exclusive to SASI.

  • Upload your creation to SCS being sure to use the keyword SASI so it will appear in the Taylored Expressions Company Gallery (which is driven by a keyword search) and complete the recipe section of the upload.

  • In the description field of your upload please mention Stamp a Sweet Impression stamps are from http://www.tayloredexpressions.com/

Super simple - pretty much just have fun stamping and upload what you make so we can see it! If you are chosen, Taylor will send you an e-mail or PM asking if you'd like to be featured and requesting permission to post one or more of your creations here as Our Friday Friend. We will include a link to your SCS Member Gallery and to your blog if you have one (note: a blog is not required to qualify for this feature.) So who will be the first Our Friday Friend? Will it be you?

I have a fun Halloween card to share with you today featuring one of my very favorite costumed cuppies from Trick or Sweet - the mummy! The orange, purple, and green cardstock are all from the TE Halloween Key Ingredients pack, along with the green brads. The sentiment was stamped on Neenah Classic Solar White cardstock and the words were highlighted with markers before cutting and embossing the panel with rectangle Nestabilities. The entire panel was covered with Versamark ink and heat embossed with iridescent ice ep - it's super sparkly in person.

I took the tiny Ghost from Frightful Night and stamped him in Versamark all over the olive panel to create a subtle background. The jack-o-lantern cuppie was stamped repeatedly on a white panel and colored with Copics. Since I had individually cut all the stars away from the house image in Frightful Night, I arranged them on an acrylic block and stamped them around the jack-o-lanterns in eggplant ink. I love having those separate little stars to play with. The mummy was stamped, colored, cut out and popped up on foam tape to make him the star of the show!

And now it's time for our very first give-away of SASI Sweet Treats (our version of blog candy). Everyone loves a Sweet Treat, right? We've got a fun package offered up today including:

*JustRite Uppercase Outline Pre-Inked Letters (typewriter font)
*4 Brilliance Dew Drops (Gamma Green, Pearlescent Lime, Pearlescent Thyme, Pearlescent Chocolate)
*JustRite 2X Stamper (red hearts, black sentiment)
*Various TE ribbons
