Hi All! Today I have a fun little Father's Day card to share with you. Since, that special day is just around the corner I want to have all my cards made for all the special men in my life. I pulled out my favorite Father's Day set *giggle* from Taylored Expressions. The set is called "Boys Will Be Boys" and it has images that will connect and relate to every man out there. I love it! The cool screw brads come in the Father's Day Key Ingredients. The layout is from this week's Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge. I love all of Taylor's sketches. Make sure to check out her blog for all the details on how to play along. Tissue Holder and Tutorial...

Hi everyone! Laurie here, and I've got a fun little project to share...with a tutorial! During the May's release Sneak Peeks, I shared THIS tissue holder that I made with the new Doctor's Orders set. I received many requests to share a tutorial, so here it is! :-)


To start, you will need a piece of cardstock that measures 4 5/8" x 8" and another piece that measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".



First, you will need to score both pieces of cardstock. The 4 5/8" x 8" piece needs to be scored at 1 1/2", 2 5/8", 5 1/4", & 6 3/8" (make sure that the c.s. is horizontal).




Score the smaller piece of c.s. at 1" on all four sides as shown in the picture below.




Using a bone folder, crease each fold well (this makes for a neater box).




Next, make four vertical slits to create little "flaps" in each corner as shown in the picture below.



This next step is optional, but one that I think makes for a nicer end product. Cut part of each flap off (making diagonal cuts) as shown in the picture below.



Finally, assemble boxes using strong adhesive (like Taylor's Sticky Tape) and place a small folded ribbon on one end of the bottom box (this will be the ribbon pull that is used to open the box).



For my finished box, I placed a piece of layered and decorated c.s. measuring 4 12" x 2 1/2" on the top. The adorable tissue box (from Doctor's Orders) is stamped on Choice Buttercream c.s. and colored in with Copics. The decorative layer underneath the tissue box was created using my Labels Four Nestabilities. For embellishments, I added some Stickles and buttons!

Shop {for Copic Markers} 'Til You Drop!!

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!!

I have a fun little project to show you today!! Now, I love to stamp, I love to buy stamps, paper, ink and most recently, I love to buy Copic Markers!! Not only do I love to buy all these things, and use all these things, I also love to organize my supplies!!

In order to organize and keep track of my growing collection of Copic Markers, I decided to make a Copic Marker Chart Book!!!

I started by creating a table in Word listing the number and name of each and every Copic Sketch Marker available, and I also made two columns, one to mark off when I own the marker, the other to mark off when I own the re-inker!!

After printing out my table, I then colored in each Copic Marker that I have, along with the re-inker's that I have. I then trimmed each page, leaving a 1 inch border on the left side to leave room for the binding.

For the cover of my book, I used this yummy Teal cardstock from the Father's Day Key Ingredients from Taylored Expressions. I used my Scor-Pal to create a scrapbook type of binding. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch three holes in my Copic Chart as well as the cover, and then attached them with three brads.

I stamped these GORGEOUS flowers from Fresh Flowers by Taylored Expressions in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Choice Snow White Cardstock, and framed it with Oval Nestabilities. I colored my flowers with Copic Markers, and the sentiment on the bottom of my book is from Downtown Diva and was punched with my Word Window Punch and layered on a Scallop Oval, 1 1/4 Inch Circle and 1 3/8 Inch Circle Punches!!!

All the cardstock, patterned paper and ribbon on this project are from the Father's Day Key Ingredients. I finished off my card with some paper piercing!!!!

This book has a place on honor on my stamp desk already! It makes it SOOO easy when ordering more Copic Markers (grin!!), and I also love it as a guide to see what colors I want to use on a project!!

It's Grillin' Time...Are You Ready?

'Cause I'm ready! The warm weather is here and that means it's time to get together with friends and family and enjoy summer and the outdoors. 

I've made up darling place settings and invitations for our next BBQ. So when I say I'm ready, I really mean it. I used the awesome BBQ image from the Boys Will Be Boys set at Taylored Expressions. I wanted the invitation to look like an apron and I found a pattern online. I tweaked it a little to suit my design though. I used supplies from the Father's Day Key Ingredients because I really like the checkered patterned papers for this project. 

For the invitation I started by stamping the grill with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Choice Buttercream cardstock. I coloured it with copics and used one of the metal sheets from the Boys Will Be Boys Bundle for the grill body. Next I stamped and coloured the steak and flames then I cut everything out. By the way, I really enjoy cutting out, so there's a lot of it in my project...wink! I kept the front of the invitation simple so the grill would really shine (pardon the pun!). All I added was a little sewing around the edges and the ribbon. I left the ribbon loop rather long so I could hang it on my friends' front doors instead of just leaving it in their mailboxes. 

For the inside of the invitation I used the JustRite Rectangle Stamper with the Brayton Font Set and created my invite. I intentionally left the date off so I could write it in when we decide on our grillin' date. I love having things like this in my stash...ready to go at a moments notice.

For the place setting, I found these fun polka dot paper plates at Target, along with the clear plastic square plate and the cutlery.

A napkin ring seemed like a logical accessory and it was super easy to create. Once the image was stamped and coloured I cut it out with oval Nestabilities. I attached one of the patterned papers from the Father's Day Key Ingredients to the image with screw brads then wrapped it around the napkin. I couldn't resist adding the shish-kabobs and another flame.

The final surprise is on the clear square plate. Because it's see-thru I figured why not stamp the BBQ on the underneath of the plate...nobody would expect it! I stamped the image with Versamark and embossed it with black embossing powder. Then I "coloured" it with a mixture of diamond glaze and reinkers. There's no risk to the food because the image is on the under side of the plate. I can't say how durable this will be over time, but I think I'll be hand washing these plates!

Father's Day - BBQ Gift Ensemble

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am excited to show you a project that I have been working on for my Father-in-law who loves to fire it up on the grill :) He loves to cook and has some awesome recipes - so I thought I would make a personalized recipe box for him to go with the BBQ set. 

So I made a little BBQ card, a personalized recipe box, some fun recipes and a little gift box with some grilling sauces, brush and skewers to go along with it using Taylor's Boys Will Be Boys set. (The The Boys Will Be Boys set is currently out of stock. But if you'd like to be notified when it becomes available, go here, and click request restock notification. The BBQ Gift Box 

1. I took a wooden box and then painted it red - kinda BBQish :)

2. Filled it with two grilling sauces, a brush and skewers with some packing crunchies

3. Created a little tag from this stamp set that reads: All Hail the Grill Master!

The Card

1. Everything on this card comes from the Father's Day Key Ingredient's set 

2. All the stamps are from the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set - I stamped the grill on to the metal plate and then paper pieced it onto the grill - so that it is all metallic

3. I used Taylor's Friday Cupcake Sketch # 68 sketch for this card

The Recipe Box

1. I took a recipe box and painted the top brown (it had some flower motif on it before)

2. covered it with some of the papers from the Father's Day Key Ingredient set

3. I used the Cuppie Nurse image from the Doctor's Orders set and paper pieced her uniform into an apron and created a little chefs hat for the cuppie

4. I created the sentiment - Paul's Top Secret Recipes with the Just Rite Stamp set available at the Taylored Expressions store  and cut it out with my Spellbinders and added some ribbon from the Key Ingredient's set

5. The front of the box has a little slot for labels that reads: Paul's - also created with the Just Rite system

6. The box opens to reveal 8 tabs each of them stamped with individualized recipe divisions: Veggie, BBQ, Polish, Pizza, Chili, Soups, etc. (all of my Father-in-Law's favorite foods that he loves to cook)

7. I also created three recipe inserts (one for the soup section, one for the pizza section and one for the BBQ section and stamped a little something on them)

8. For the BBQ section, I stamped one of the skewers from the Boys will Be Boys stamp set.

9. For the Soup section, I stamped the cuppie from Thanksgiving from theYear of Sweets 3- I paper pieced him and instead of thanksgiving I created a bowl (and actually, the bowl is the cuppies head, upside down and paper pieced :)

10. For the Pizza section, I stamped the Cuppie from Christmas from the Year of Sweets 3 - I paper pieced him also and instead of the plate of cookies, I created a little pizza on the plate :)

I had so much fun creating this little father's day gift for my Father-in-law because I know he will love his new BBQ goodies :) and it was so easy to create with all the fun products at the Taylored Expressions store!!! A Father's Day Gift Card Holder

If you have a Dad or husband like mine, then making a card is truly the easy part. It's the gift that always has me fit to be tied. Either they have everything and don't need anything, or what they do want is way out of my price range. So lately, I've found that gift cards are ideal. They can pick out what they want, and if it's a little pricey, well at least I can say I contributed to it!

The little toolbelt image from the Boys Will Be Boys set is perfect for my dh. He wears a toolbelt all day in his real job. At home, he's much handier with the remote than with any of the other tools featured but all things considered, this seems like a perfect match for him.

I created a simple pocket card with the intent to replicate one of the pockets on a tool belt! I started with the Father's Day Key Ingredient's Kit, and the tutorial for the pocket card can be found here. The edges were pierced and then faux stitched, then sponged to add to that toolbelt look.

The toolbelt image was stamped on Choice Buttercream cardstock and coloured it with SU! markers and a few highlights were added with a silver metallic gel pen. I cut the image out and popped it up on a Nestability Labels 3 that I sponged with the die in place to add interest. The "Number #1" Dad sentiment was punched out with a circle punch and layered on the metal from the Father's Day Key Ingredients Kit, which had been cut with a Cuttlebug tag die. The orange grosgrain ribbon from the kit is threaded through the metal tag and tucked under the pocket flap.

I used the screw-top brads from the kit for "rivets" on the tool belt, and also to secure the tab on the card holder portion.

Inside the pocket is the gift card holder. It measures 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" of Choice Buttercream, with a border of the designer paper included with the Father's Day Key Ingredients. The slit punch was used to create the flaps holding the gift card. Also, because I like a card to be able to stand up, I adhered the pocket card to a card base of Choice Buttercream, which is amazingly sturdy and holds the pocket beautifully.

My husband is not one for fancy cards, but I think this will hit pretty close to the heart and $50 from Canadian Tire won't hurt either!

Golf Bag Tags

When I first saw this cute putting green image from the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set I knew I needed to make golf bag tags with it! Although my husband came to mind I actually thought of making one for the golf clubs I've had sitting in the basement for two years(with the tags still on them)! BUT I decided to make his first ;)
I started with some chipboard and my SU! Top Note Die. I then used the papers from the Father's Day Key Ingredients to cover the front and back of the die cut. The image was stamped with Memento Black onto some kraft cardstock and coloured with Copic markers. The golf ball was coloured with a white gel pen. I then used the Oval Nesties to cut out my image and sentiment layers. A jumbo eyelet was used so that I'll be able to attach the tag to a golf bag. The back was stamped using the JustRite Brayton Font and the Harmony Rectangular Stamper Set.
Here is one I made for myself. PINK of course! I've used the April 20th Key Ingredients designer paper to cover my chipboard top note die. The backside is stamped just like my husband's but with my name ;) Since I like ribbon I decided to add a little bit to mine!

*Honey Do* Book

We all have LOTS of fix-it things for our husbands to do, right? I know I do. "Honey do this, honey do that....." Well, here's a place to write it all down. {smile}

I found these notebooks (with the pen!) at Michael's in the dollar aisle...that's right, it only cost a dollar! They had a bunch of colors to pick from too. I knew I wanted to use some of the papers and ribbon from my Father's Day Key Ingredients so I picked up an orangey-red colored book.

Here's what the notebook looked like when I bought it. I turned it to accommodate the toolbelt image from the Boys Will Be Boys set. The pages on the inside of the book are completely blank without any lines, so it totally worked out to turn it on its side.



It was super easy (and fast) to make. I just cut a piece of the plaid DP to 4-3/8" x 2-7/8" as the "base" and then decorated it like a card. The white deckled rectangle is up on 1/16" foam tape and so is the sentiment on the double-ended tag. Taylor has both of these Spellbinders products in her store!

I made the "Honey Do Book" sentiment with my JustRite Lowercase Times New Roman Font, another product in the Taylored Expressions store! I love one-stop shopping!

For My Little Man

Let me start by saying that I do not sew! LOL I have always wanted to try embroidering a stamped image on a shirt. When I saw the Boys Will Be Boys set, I knew it would be perfect for this! I used the golf image and the ties from the set. I stamped them on the tshirts in light blue ink so that I would have a "pattern" to follow. I have to admit, I didn't think it would be as difficult as it was, so I have a new respect for those of you who can REALLY embroider! Let's just say, I'll stick to stamping! :)



Since I wanted to make these for my son, Isaac, who is almost 18 months old, I added my own sentiments to fit the images. I just handwrote them and stitched over the handwriting. The golf shirt says "putt putt" (meant in more ways than one LOL), and the ties shirt says "little man", which is what I call Isaac all the time, "my little man." I think they'll be cute on him. . .kind of playful.

After I finished all of the stitching, I decided I wanted to package them so I used a template I had purchased previously. The paper is from the Father's Day Key Ingredients, as well as the ribbon and button. I used a partial sentiment from the Boys Will Be Boys set for the tag. I created an acetate sleeve to slide the box into so the shirts would be nice and secure.
