Webby Treat Bag by Sharon Harnist

Hi everyone -- I have Halloween treat bag to share with you today! With Halloween just a little over a week away, you still have time to package up some treats with this sweet bag and maybe give them to co-workers, neighbors, teachers, or your children’s classmates!


When I first saw this spider web in the Spooky Expressions stamp set, I knew I wanted to try sewing it! To accomplish a realistic look, I stamped the web with white ink onto vellum cardstock (I have a piece of black cardstock underneath the vellum so the web will show up for you).



Then I carefully stitched along the white lines with white thread. I found it easiest to stitch around the curved outer lines, working my way inward, saving the straight lines for last. Next, I die cut my bag (a variety package of 3 bright colors found at Target in the gift bag section) with Spellbinders Classic Inverted Scalloped Circle Nestabilities. The bag measures 3.5” x 6.5” – the perfect size for this web, I think!

To make the cut, just slip the die into the bag while it’s still folded, cutting edge up – position it low into the bag, about 1-inch from the bottom:



Apply adhesive either on the inside of the bag, near the die opening or if it is too difficult to get your hand and adhesive on the inside of the bag, apply adhesive to the front side of the vellum web cardstock and then slip it into the bag, pressing the vellum web in place. While the bag is still folded, stamp the spider.

I topped the bag with some Basic Grey Eerie patterned paper (from the Halloween ‘09 Key Ingredients Kit) that was punched with Martha Stewart’s Picket Fence edge punch. I stamped and colored the cute witch legs and die cut the image with the same Classic Inverted Scalloped Circle Nestabilities. It is popped up on foam tape.

To finish the bag, I added orange chipboard letters (from the Halloween ‘09 Bundle) to the bottom of the bag and filled it with candy corn. I think this bag will definitely make a smile on Halloween! Thanks for visiting today!

Witchy Wiper Card

Hey everyone! I wanted to try making one of these wiper cards that I saw on Renee Van Stralen's blog. Beate put together a great tutorial on SCS on how to make these. Here's the link if you want to check it out.

I used two stamp sets for my card, Spooky Expressions and Punchy Potions. The green sparkly ribbon is from the Halloween Key Ingredients, and the black scallop oval is up on 1/16" foam tape. I added Eucalyptus Stickles to the witches brew. All images and the sentiment were stamped in black craft ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Halloween Teacher Gift

Hi there! When Halloween rolls around each year it seems I am always struggling to make something last minute for the teachers! Well, not this year! I'm starting with the teachers first! My daughters are at the age where they don't want me to make something for everyone in their classes, just their close friends and teachers! Whew.....


This year they wanted me to make Hershey Pull Treats! Easy peasy and since I don't have to make too many, Mom is happy, too! For the teachers I am also including a card! My daughter, Lauren, loves the new Witch stamps from Taylored Expressions, so that is what I used here!

Here is a close up of the card! I stamped the witch shoes (LOVE!) from Spooky Expressions in Memento Tuxedo Black on Choice Snow White, colored it in with Copic Markers, and cut out with Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities. The web stamp is also from Spooky Expressions and was stamped in Versamark on Wizard Medium. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Eerie. All of the cardstock and patterned paper comes from the Halloween Key Ingredients Kit. The black adhesive gems and ribbon are from my stash.

For the pull treat, I used the witch legs from Punchy Potions. It was stamped on Choice Snow White with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Copic markers. I love that these stamps were made to fit in the Classic Large Oval Nestabilities! I used the same cardstock and patterned paper as on the card above! You can find directions for these easy and cute pull treats here! I'll be making a few more of these this Halloween season!

Witches Brew Treat

For my project today, using the new Punchy Potions stamp set, I made a Broom Treat by Martha Stewart. It was incredibly easy & fun to make and I had all the supplies on-hand. You will need 2 lunch sacks, some twigs from the yard (lol) and some candy to fill the bag!

First, in the bag I wanted to fill with candy, you cut strips 1" from the top of the bag with scissors. Then on the other 'outer' bag, you cut all the way down to the base (more tricky). Then, you put the treat filled bag on top of the strip cut bag and bring up the sides and secure with twigs inside and tie your ribbon. Click on Martha Stewart link for more photo instructions. Then you decorate your bag with whatever you'd like.

Here is a close up of the treat tag. I combined Punchy Potions Witches Brew with the Trick or Sweet witch, cute huh? I paper-pieced my witch with the Halloween Key Ingredients and colored with prismacolor pencils and copic & atyou spica markers for glittery shine. Easy & fun! I think there are so many great elements in this photo to work from and I hope you like it too....the polka dots in the costume, the Halloween theme with the grouping of pumpkins and the ghost, the colors, the outdoor feel, and hey...there's a cupcake in it!

I went with the polka dot and pumpkin theme for my card. The grouping of pumpkins in the photo totally reminded me of this pumpkin cuppie stamp from Year of Sweets III ...I love pumpkin stamps! Don't know what it is about them, but I love them! The punched sentiment and orange deckled rectangle behind the main image are both up on Taylor's foam tape. The square button and Intense Orange card base are from the newest Bundle & Key Ingredients that were just released in the TE Store today! The layout is Jen del Muro's sketch from Aug, 29th.

Perfect Package Halloween Set

Hi everyone! Today I want to show you a set of Halloween cards that I made for my Mom using the Frightful Night set and a Perfect Package Card Box. If you haven't seen Taylor's video tutorial yet on how EASY these boxes fold together, check it out here.

The DP and Cobalt Prism paper is from last year's Key Ingredients kit...I soooo love these colors! The tree, bats and sentiments were all stamped in black craft ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The large frame on the front of the box was cut with my Spellbinders Polka Dot Frame that I got from Taylor. Can you see the dry embossed polka dots? Here's a close-up:



The cards measure 4" square. I made a total of six, three cobalt and three pumpkin. The tree panels on the cards were cut with deckled rectangle Nestabilities. The sentiments on the cards were cut with the smallest deckled mega rectangle die. The black polka dot ribbon is also from Taylor's store. Here's a picture of just the cards:

Lots of Candy!

I'm having so much fun reading all the comments on the SASI Sweet Treats post below - it's great to know there are people out there reading and loving this SASI blog! :) There's still time to enter to win the goodies. Just scroll down a couple of posts for the details and leave us a comment.

While all of us at TE/SASI are gearing up for Christmas and the new release coming up this week, I wanted to share at least one more Halloween project that I've been working on for awhile. What's the first thing you think of when you think of Halloween? Ghosts? Haunted Houses? Jack-o-lanterns? Heck no! The first thing we all think of is CANDY!!! ;) I wanted to come up with several different fun candy presentations that you might be able to use for party favors or classroom treats or even little treats for your co-workers.

I've created four different coordinated candy treats along with a mini card (2.75" x 4"). I started out with the cat image from Frightful Night. I stamped and embossed him several times using black craft ink and clear ep on Green Galore cardstock. Then I punched the images out with a 1 1/4" circle punch. The cat images were layered onto either Pumpkin Pie or Elegant Eggplant 1 3/8" circles and then onto Black scallop circles. Stickles were added to all the scallop circles (either orange or black diamond). Unfortunately the stickles don't show up in some of the photos, bet they sure do IRL! Everything was made with the four colors (Black, Green Galore, Elegant Eggplant, Pumpkin Pie) of cardstock along with dp and ribbon from the TE Halloween Key Ingredients Kit. I just love that fun paisley patterned paper.

Here are some close-ups of the different candy treats. First the peppermint patty package. Four York peppermint patties were decorated with the scallop circles and then attached to a 4" x 4.5" Pumpkin Pie cardstock panel. That was then slipped into a clear envie and a simple topper (using the bat image stamped in black) was attached. These are one of my favorite treats to make and they work for any season or holiday. Hmmm...maybe they're my fave because I love peppermint patties?














The idea for this acetate treat box came from the Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS hosted by Lynn Mercurio. You can see the box tutorial in that thread by clicking here. I started by scoring my acetate and then carefully stamping images from Frightful Night in Jet Black Stazon Ink. You have to be patient to let the ink completely dry before continuing on with the construction of the box. I had a partial bag of special edition Indiana Jones mint M&M's left over from before I started my diet and I loved the way the greens complimented my project. Of course now there are cool Halloween M&M's available too.







Next comes my Pixie Stick treat. I just had to have Pixie Sticks for this project - such fond childhood memories. Ahhhh...the pure sugary goodness! When I was trying to decide how many PS I wanted to put into my treat holder I checked the serving size on the back of the bag. Turns out 7 Pixie Sticks constitute *a serving* (who knew?) and it's only 60 calories! If I ate 7 Pixie Sticks now I think I'd fall into a sugar coma, but maybe that's seems more reasonable when you're a kid! LOL!

To make this treat holder I just played around with some measurements and scoring and ended up with an Eggplant panel 5" x 4.5". It's scored at 1.25" and 1.5" and again at 3.5" and 3.75". Then it's scored at .5" up from the bottom and snipped to be able to fold into a little box of sorts. Super simple. I have a whole bag of Pixie Sticks so I guess I better get busy making some more of these of the treat boxes!

The last treat container is a tin for Mini Tootsie Pops. The tin is just one of the international coffee tins covered in the paisley dp. I think this would be great to have on your desk at work as a fun way to share a little something sweet with your co-workers.

I hope you've gotten some ideas you can use for last minute Halloween treats or maybe you can start early and adapt these into Christmas treats. You know we're all about the sweets around here!

I have a fun Halloween card to share with you today featuring one of my very favorite costumed cuppies from Trick or Sweet - the mummy! The orange, purple, and green cardstock are all from the TE Halloween Key Ingredients pack, along with the green brads. The sentiment was stamped on Neenah Classic Solar White cardstock and the words were highlighted with markers before cutting and embossing the panel with rectangle Nestabilities. The entire panel was covered with Versamark ink and heat embossed with iridescent ice ep - it's super sparkly in person.

I took the tiny Ghost from Frightful Night and stamped him in Versamark all over the olive panel to create a subtle background. The jack-o-lantern cuppie was stamped repeatedly on a white panel and colored with Copics. Since I had individually cut all the stars away from the house image in Frightful Night, I arranged them on an acrylic block and stamped them around the jack-o-lanterns in eggplant ink. I love having those separate little stars to play with. The mummy was stamped, colored, cut out and popped up on foam tape to make him the star of the show!

And now it's time for our very first give-away of SASI Sweet Treats (our version of blog candy). Everyone loves a Sweet Treat, right? We've got a fun package offered up today including:
